Onion Bhaji | Onion Fritters

Onion Bhaji is tasty onion rings bounded with spiced chickpea flour batter.These Crispy Onion Bhaji would be perfect when you eat it with hot chai (tea) during rainy days 😉 .




My bro loves this onion bhaji a lot and as he is spice lover he asks my mom to prepare it more spicy as evening snack 😀

Ingredients
  1. Chickpea flour/Besan - 1 cup
  2. Onion-2
  3. Hing/Asoeftida- pinch
  4. Salt- to taste
  5. Chili powder-1 and 1/2 tsp
  6. Coriander powder- 1/2 tsp
  7. Cumin powder-1 tsp
  8. Ginger garlic paste- 1 tsp
  9. Water- required for batter
  10. Rice flour-1 tbsp
  11. Baking powder- 1 tsp
  12. Oil- to deep fry
Instructions
  1. Add besan/chickpea flour ,salt,hing, coriander,chili,cumin powder,ginger garlic paste,water,baking powder,rice flour to the bowl.
  2. Mix it well and make sure the consistency of the batter should not be too thick nor too thin.
  3. Heat oil in deep pan and to check oil is hot enough just drop small portion in oil then it should pop up if not then wait for few mins for the oil to be hot. Slice the onion as shown and coat the onion rings well in batter
  4. Once oil is hot add the coated onion rings .Cook both the sides till it changes to slight brown in color.
Notes
  1. Drop the onion rings only when oil is hot or else it will be soggy.
  2. Adding rice flour makes bhaji more crispy.
  3. Serve hot Onion Bhaji with coconut chutney

Onion Bhaji Detailed recipe:

  • Add besan/chickpea flour ,salt,hing to the bowl.

  • Add rice flour and combine it well to make medium watery batter as shown. Don’t add more water as it will absorb more oil.

  • Heat oil in deep pan and to check oil is hot enough just drop small portion in oil then it should pop up if not then wait for few mins for the oil to be hot. Slice the onion as shown and coat the onion rings well in batter

Serving Suggestion:

Serve hot Onion Bhaji with coconut chutney
