Sabudana Waffles with Kala chana

Sabudana Waffles with kala chana is quick and gluten free power packed recipe which requires only few drops of oil.If you try this you will definitely make this Sabudana Waffles regularly as the taste of this recipe is so yum. Sabudana is basically made out of processed tapioca and Originally they make Sabudana with potato  as fasting food in Indian families.But here i have included kala chana/black chickpea instead of potato which makes this dish high in protein waffles 😀 This is one of the easy breakfast recipe which will be loved by kids too and those people who don’t like kala chana/black chickpea can be served as this waffles because they won’t be able to find out that this Sabudana Waffles contains black chickpea 😉

Sabudana Waffles

Ingredients:

  • Sabudana-1 cup
  • Water-1 cup
  • Boiled Kala chana/Black Chickpea-1 cup
  • Crushed garlic-1 tsp
  • Crushed Ginger-1 tsp
  • Crushed Green chili-2 tsp [adjust based on your spice level]
  • Salt- to taste
  • Cumin seeds-1 tsp
  • Chat masala-1/2 tsp
  • Chili powder-1 tsp
  • Garam masala-1/4 tsp
  • Coriander powder-1 and 1/2 tsp
  • Oil-as required

Sabudana Waffles

Sabudana Waffles recipe:

  • Soak Sabudana overnight with water in refrigerator in ratio 1 :1 or soak it for about 4-5 hrs until it doubles the size and all the water gets absorbed.Just take one pearl and press it with your finger it should be mashed.

  • Soak the kala chana overnight in water.Boil the kala chana/black chickpea in pressure cooker for about 4 whistles.Once cooled smash the boiled kala chana with potato masher or using hand.
  • Add chili powder,crushed garlic & ginger,crushed green chili,salt,cumin seeds, chat masala powder,garam masala,coriander powder,boiled kala chana to the soaked sabudana. Combine everything together so that it can hold any shape.

  • Use oil spray inside the waffle maker and then heat it.
  • Add 1 tsp of oil in center of the palm and take small portion from sabudana dough to form ball then flat it.Place the flat sabudana into waffle maker .If there any left over spaces then fill it with remaining sabudana dough.

  • Close the waffle maker and I cook it for about 15 mins in medium high.Cook time differs based on the size of the waffles so monitor it or else it may get burnt .

  • Just use fork and check if the waffles are crispy outside then it is cooked or else cook it for few more mins.

Note:

  • Use freshly crushed ginger,garlic and green chili to make it more tasty.
  • If the waffles are crispy out then it appears to be cooked or else cook it for few more mins.Usually i set my waffle maker to medium high so it takes 15 mins to cook this Sabudana Waffles.
  • Serve it with green chutney or masala yogurt.
