Prawn Biryani | Eral Biryani

Prawn Biryani or Eral biryani is a tasty recipe to make any occasion more special,this is quick and easy way of making prawn dum biryani combined with some Exotic spices  layered with Caramelized Onions, Saffron, and Fresh Herbs.Rice and Prawn are deliciously cooked with perfect consistency to make biryani Mouth Watering and Delicious. Best Combo with Biryani is raita which you can easily prepare just by combining thick curd/yogurt,salt,onion,tomato,green chili. Biryani is something which i can never avoid it , am a fan of dum biryani and mostly i make it on weekend and eating with your loved ones with movie is just blissful 😀 .Only thing is we need to cook rice n prawn perfectly which i have described briefly under recipe section.

Notes:

  1. Use Fresh Prawn which has to be deviened.
  2. Mix all fresh masala to the prawn and refrigerate at least for 2 hours so that spices gets blended very well into the prawn.
  3. For cooking the rice —> soak the rice for 10 mins in water.Let the water boil and then add jeera,salt,oil,garam masala and then the rice.Cook with lid on for 4 mins (80% cook the rice) and switch off, make sure rice is not cooked more so take the vessel away from the stove or else rice will be overcooked when you keep for dum.
  4. For Dum biryani—>layer caramelized onions,rice,mint and cook on high for 10 mins then cook on medium flame for 20 mins and switch off,Let the biryani sit for 10 mins and then serve it hot with Raita
  5. Use thick curd to get tasty biryani.

Marinate Prawn
  1. Prawn- 500g
  2. Green chili-2
  3. Curd-1 cup
  4. Ginger garlic paste-2 tbsp
  5. Oil-1/2 cup
  6. Salt-as required
  7. Mint-1/2 cup
  8. Coriander leaf- 1/2 cup
  9. Chili powder-2 tsp
  10. Biryani powder-2 tbsp
  11. Coriander powder-2 tsp
  12. Turmeric powder-1/2 tsp
Cooking Rice for Dum
  1. Rice-2 cups
  2. Water-3 cups
  3. Salt
  4. Jeera-2 tsp
  5. Garam masala-2 tsp
  6. oil-1 tsp
  7. Saffron water-1 tsp
  8. Lemon juice-2 tsp
  9. Onion-1
  10. Oil-1 tbsp
  11. Mint and coriander leaf-1/2 cup
  12. Ghee-1 tsp
Instructions
  1. Marinate Prawn by adding ingredients mentioned above and then refrigerate for 2 hours.
Cooking rice for biryani
  1. Wash and rinse the rice twice, soak the rice in water for 10 mins.
  2. Heat wok with oil,onion and salt.Cook for 15 mins in medium,it starts to caramelize.Now cook with lid on for another 10 mins.Remove the fried onions to other plate.
  3. In same wok add 3 cups of water and let it boil,Once boiled add jeera/cumin,salt,oil,garam masala and rice.Cook with lid on for 4 mins (80% rice is cooked)and switch off.Make sure to remove the wok from the stove to prevent the rice to be cooked more.
Layer the biryani
  1. Add the marinated prawn to the bottom of cooker
  2. Add the rice
  3. Add mint,coriander leaf,onion.Then rice and then again mint,coriander leaf,onion.Repeat the same with remaining ingredients.
  4. On Top of the biryani add saffron water,ghee,lemonjuice
  5. Close the cooker without whistle and Cook on high for 10 mins and then on medium for 20 mins.
  6. Switch off the stove and leave it for 10 mins .After 10 mins open the cooker and serve it hot with Raita.
