Puli Rasam(Spicy tamarind liquid) in 5 Mins

Puli Rasam is quick recipe which is prepared in just 5 mins with jeera/cumin,pepper powder,crushed garlic,turmeric and tamarind water which gives awesome flavor .My favorite combination for rasam rice is with half boiled egg or mutton chukka  :D.There are so many rasam recipes as vengayam rasam,mor rasam,parupu rasam,tomato rasam,jeeraga rasam ,will try all the rasam varieties soon šŸ™‚

Ingredients
  1. Pepper ā€“ 1 tbsp
  2. Garlic with skin ā€“ 5 cloves
  3. Jeera ā€“ 1 tbsp
  4. Turmeric ā€“ Ā½ tbsp
  5. Tomato - 1
  6. Coriander leaf
  7. Tamarind ā€“ lemon size
  8. Oil ā€“ 1 tbsp
  9. Mustard seeds ā€“ 1 tsp
  10. Curry leaf ā€“ 4 leaves
  11. Hing/asafoetida - pinch
Instructions
  1. Add tamarind with water in bowl and microwave for a min or add the tamarind in hot water.Then Squeeze the pulp to extract the juice and throw away the pulp.
  2. Grind pepper and jeera in mixie or food processor.And then grind garlic for once.
  3. Heat pan with oil and once hot add the mustard seeds and let it splutter.Add the grinded paste ( pepper,jeera,garlic) and curry leaf,hing and cook for a min.
  4. Make tomato puree or smash it with help of hand.Add tomato to the grinded paste and cook for min.
  5. Add salt, turmeric and tamarind juice and little extra water .Bring it to boil.
  6. Switch off the stove when it boils and garnish with coriander leaf.
Notes
  1. Make sure not to add too much of tamarind then it will taste too tangy
