Green peas masala (Dry matar)

Green peas masala is tasty side dish for roti/chapati or jeera rice and including this green peas in chat items also tastes yum!!! I remember during my childhood mom used to take me and bro to dhai vada shop after tuition on weekends where they used to mix this Green peas masala ,boiled potatoes, dahi vada together and serve hot …….. Omg still i cannot forget those taste 🙁 🙁 … Soon will post that street wala dhai vada 😀 😀

Ingredients
  1. Dry Green peas-2 cup
  2. Cumin seeds/jeera-2 tsp
  3. Oil-1 tbsp
  4. Salt-to taste
  5. Chili powder-2 and 1/2 tsp
  6. Coriander powder-2 tsp
  7. Turmeric powder-1 tsp
  8. Garam masala- 1 tsp
  9. Coriander leaf/cilantro- garnish
  10. Lemon juice-1 tsp (garnish)
To Grind
  1. Clove-3 to 4
  2. Cinnamon sticks-3 to 4
  3. Onion-1
  4. Tomato-1
  5. Green chili-1
  6. Ginger chopped-2 tsp
  7. Garlic chopped-2 tsp
Instructions
  1. Soak dried green peas overnight .Pressure cook the soaked green peas by adding water to cover the peas for about 4 whistles .
  2. Grind the items under to grind section to fine thick paste.
  3. Heat oil in deep pan and once hot add cumin seeds ,grinded paste and let it cook with lid on for about 15 mins .Once raw flavor of the grinded paste disappears add chili powder,garam masala,corainder ,turmeric powder.
  4. Add the cooked green peas to masala,little water and cook with lid on for about 10 mins so that masala gets blended well with peas.
  5. Garnish with cilantro/coriander leaf and lemon juice.
Notes
  1. Top it up with sour cream or thick curd and serve Green peas masala with roti or paratha
  2. You can also use this Green peas masala in chat items
  3. It also serves as perfect side dish for jeera rice.
