Paneer matar masala

Paneer matar masala is one of my favorite recipe with hot roti or rice on weekends or whenever guests come home for lunch .This is famous vegetarian north Indian recipe which consists of peas and cottage cheese with tomato,onion paste as base with curry powder. Paneer matar masala is one of my mom’s signature dish , during my childhood she used to make ghee chapati and paneer matar masala which would taste blissful.You don’t have to visit restaurant to have this dish , this recipe can be easily made in home πŸ™‚

Notes:

  • Buy fresh whole milk Paneer 
  • You can use fresh peas or frozen based on your availability
  • Tomato+onion paste acts as base for this gravy so ratio 2:1
  • After adding all ingredients pressure cook for 1 whistle so that spices gets well blended with paneer for wonderful flavor
  • Serving suggestions-> serve it hot with ghee roti or naan or rice

Ingredients
  1. Oil-2 tbsp
  2. Cumin-2 tsp
  3. Onion-1/2
  4. Tomato-1/2
  5. Ginger garlic paste-1 tbsp
  6. Salt-as required
  7. Turmeric powder-1/2 tsp
  8. Chili powder-1 and 1/2 tsp
  9. Coriander powder-1 and 1/2 tsp
  10. Garam masala-1 and 1/2 tsp
  11. Water-1 cup or as required based on your consistency
To Grind
  1. Onion-1
  2. Tomato-2
  3. Green chili-2
Instructions
  1. Grind tomato,onion,green chili into fine paste by adding little water.
  2. Heat Cooker with oil ,once hot add cumin seeds and cook for about a min.
  3. Add onion and saute for a min, then add ginger garlic paste and cook till raw flavor disappears
  4. Add tomato,salt and saute for a min
  5. Add grind ed paste to it and cook with lid on until oil oozes out.
  6. Add chili powder,coriander powder,garam masala,turmeric powder and water.
  7. Add frozen peas, paneer cubes to it. Mix it well
  8. Pressure cook for about one whistle so that all masala gets into paneer well.
