Prawn Curry |Shrimp Curry|Eral kurma

Prawn Curry is delicious and finger licking sea food recipe which is prepared with Indian spices,coconut,curry leaf to give a wonderful flavor to Prawn Curry.I always ask my granny to prepare this recipe whenever I visit her 😉 😉 as she grinds everything in Ammi Kal instead of food processor which enhances the taste of this curry.But I prepare this curry using food processor as you know in this busy days we prefer food processor …Anyways this method also tastes good :).This prawn curry becomes delicious when served along with hot steamed rice 😀 and always prefer fresh prawns rather than frozen and never use pre-cooked prawn as it destroys the taste of the curry. Prawn curry




Serves : 4 Total time : 30 mins 

Ingredients:

  • Fresh Prawn -500 gm
  • Oil- 2 tsp
  • Small onion/shallots-6
  • Mustard seeds-1 tsp
  • Jeera-1 tsp
  • Curry leaf-6
  • Pepper-4
  • Corainder leaf-garnish
  • lime juice-1 tbsp
  • Turmeric powder – 1 tsp

To grind:

  • Oil- 2 tsp
  • Onion – 1 medium
  • Tomato – 1 medium
  • Salt- to taste
  • Garlic chopped – 1/4 cup
  • Ginger chopped-1/4 cup
  • Curry leaf-6
  • Chili powder1 and 1/2 tsp
  • Coriander powder– 2 tsp
  • Garam masala – 1 tsp
  • Turmeric powder – 1 tsp
  • Fennel seeds-1 tsp
  • Cloves-2
  • Cinnamon sticks-2

Prawn curry

 

Recipe:

  • You can checkout this link on how to clean and devein prawn. Marinate with turmeric powder and lime for about 10 mins.
  • Heat pan with oil and once hot add fennel seeds,cinnamon,cloves,garlic,ginger and saute for about 3-4 mins.

  • Then add onion,curry leaf and salt.Saute for 2 mins till onion becomes translucent.Add tomato and cook with lid for about 2 mins .

  • Add coconut,chili powder,turmeric powder,garam masala,coriander powder and saute for 5 mins and then switch off the stove.Once cooled grind to fine paste by adding required water.

  • Heat deep pan with oil and once hot add mustard seeds,pepper,jeera,curry leaf,onion.Saute till onion gets cooked well.

  • Now add the grinded paste and add required water based on consistency you want for curry.Close the lid and cook till it boils.

  • Add the cleaned prawns to curry and cook for about 5 mins with lid on and don’t overcook the prawns it gets hard.

  • Garnish with Coriander leaf and Serve Prawn curry with rice or roti or idly

Note:

  • Always prefer fresh prawns rather than frozen and never use pre-cooked prawn as it destroys the taste of the curry.
  • Cook the prawns for about 5 mins and not more than that or else it may become hard.
