Manga pachadi | raw mango recipe

Manga pachadi is recipe which is prepared on Tamil new year along with sambar,masala vadai , payasam (Sweet) and appalam ! During this day it would be like festival of food because my mom prepares all my favorite food items for lunch 😉 😉 Manga pachadi  tastes sweet and tangy together which my mom and husband love the most 🙂 .This is prepared by using raw mango,jaggery and tempered using urad dal,mustard seeds and curry leaf.

Ingredients
  1. Raw mango-1
  2. Powdered Jaggery-1/3 cup
  3. Water-1/2 cup
  4. Red chili-2
  5. Curry leaf-3
  6. Salt-to taste
  7. Mustard seeds-1 tsp
  8. Urad dal-1 tsp
  9. Hing/Asafoetida-pinch
Instructions
  1. Clean and scrap the mango skin.Cut into small pieces as shown.
  2. Heat pan and add raw mango ,water.Let it cook with lid on until soft as shown.
  3. Prepare jaggery liquid by adding jaggery and 2 tbsp water .Once it melts use filter to remove the dirt from jaggery liquid.
  4. Now once raw mango gets cooked add jaggery liquid,turmeric,salt.Saute for a min.
  5. Meanwhile prepare tempering using oil,mustard seeds,urad dal,red chili,hing,curry leaf.
Notes
  1. Serve Manga pachadi with rice or appalam.
