Channa masala | Chole Masala (Chickpea curry)

Channa masala or chickpea curry is popular Indian dish which can be served along with roti or rice or poori. This is prepared with boiled chickpeas, Indian masala powder,onion and tomato paste where tomato ratio is more to give a tangy taste. Channa masala is my mom’s signature dish she just prepares sooooooo yummy that i keep on eating this dish with roti and then eating Channa masala alone 😀 😀 😀 !!!!

Ingredients
  1. Chickpea-2 cup
  2. Cumin-2 tsp
  3. Cinnamon sticks-2
  4. Onion-1 and 1/2
  5. Tomato-3
  6. Green chili-3
  7. Chili powder-3 tsp
  8. Coriander powder-3 tsp
  9. Garam masala-1 and 1/2 tsp
  10. Turmeric powder-1 tsp
  11. Salt- to taste
  12. Ginger garlic paste-2 tsp
  13. Oil-4 tsp
Instructions
  1. Wash and Soak chickpeas in water overnight.Pressure cook the chickpeas for about 2 whistles.
  2. Grind 1 onion,3 tomatoes in food processor by adding tomato at the bottom and then onion on top of it so that it gets to form fine paste in first pulse without adding water.
  3. Heat deep pan with oil and once hot add cumin,cinnamon sticks,1/2 onion,green chili,ginger garlic paste and salt.Saute for about 2 mins.
  4. Add the fine paste of onion and tomato.Cook for about 5 mins with lid on until raw flavor disappears then add turmeric,chili,coriander,garam masala powder.
  5. Add the boiled chickpeas to the masala and required amount of water based on how you want the channa masala to be thick or little watery.Close the lid and cook for about 15 mins and stir in between.
Notes
  1. Serve this hot Channa masala with roti or rice or poori.
  2. You can also use thick channa masala as sandwich.
